What Does AWG Mean?

The AWG stands for American Wire Gauge, a standardized system for describing the diameter of the individual conductors of wires that make up a cable. The higher the wire gauge number, the smaller the diameter and the thinner the wire. Thicker wire carries more current because it has less electrical resistance over a given length, which makes it better for longer distances.
