Simone Rocha reworked the silhouettes she has made her staples and lent her mastery of colour to a heavenly spring\/summer 2015 collection<\/p>\n

’Like a prayer’ said Laura Bailey’s caption under an Instagram of one of Simone Rocha’s red floral dresses for spring\/summer 2015. And she wasn’t wrong. With the venue St Andrew’s, Holborn – huge stained glass window, impressive black and white tiled floor and organ in full flow – we were really feeling the ecclesiastical vibes.<\/p>\n

And I guess if you squinted and ignored the faux fur trim and the bare shoulders of the first section of black duchesse satin dresses that emerged; there might have been something nun-like about them. Well, take me to the nunnery, I say for this was a haven of loveliness.<\/p>\n

Rocha was reworking again the silhouettes she’s made her own – full-skirted party skirts with half-dropped waists and layered, asymmetric hips; straight-to-the-knee dresses; the trench. She used the same techniques too – that rubbing together of tough and girly, opaque and sheer, heavy and weightless in tulle and brocade, lace and faux fur, duchesse satin and lace and crocheted trims.<\/p>\n

But once again using her mastery of colour, or rather her restricting of colour, she turned all those familiars into a shockingly beautiful collection of clothes you wanted to rip off the catwalk.<\/p>\n

In black, nude, eggy yellow and – dramarama – blood red chintz, they kept coming. Wowee. All these courtly little ladies wore pretty tulle gloves, carried their furry granny bags and wore delicate variations of the Rocha shoe – I liked the fuzzy pointy slippers.<\/p>\n

Towards the end, she rendered in tulle those skirts and dress layered at the back of the hip and they looked like slipped wings. Angelic.<\/p>\n
