Gwyneth Paltrow was on hand to support her mother Blythe Danner, who has just made her film debut as a leading lady after five decades as an actress.<\/p>\n

Gwyneth, 42, joined Blythe, 72, at the premiere of her new film, I’ll See You In My Dreams, in West Hollywood on Thursday.<\/p>\n

The Shakespeare In Love star showed off her long legs in a white turtleneck\u00a0Creatures of the Wind\u00a0mini-dress as she stood tall in simple elegant black heels.<\/p>\n

\"Gwyneth<\/p>\n

Will & Grace star Blythe rocked an eye-catching look, including a zebra striped blouse paired with a long full skirt featuring a giant floral print.<\/p>\n

The ladies also posed with Blythe’s co-star and on-screen lover, Sam Elliot, 70.<\/p>\n

I’ll See You In My Dreams, which was Kickstarter funded, premieres on May 15th and first played in the festival circuit.<\/p>\n

Blythe stars as Carol, a widow and former songstress who discovers that life can begin anew at any age as she begins to date again. Malin Akerman plays her daughter.<\/p>\n

Blythe said she really identifies with Carol, especially since her husband and Gwyneth’s father, Bruce Paltrow, passed away almost 13 years ago.<\/p>\n

’After Bruce died, I thought, ”Oh God, what now?”’ she told Entertainment Weekly. ’But I’m motivated to keep myself open to possibilities. I don’t want to close in.’<\/p>\n

Blythe explained why she’s shied away from leading lady roles unlike her famous daughter.<\/p>\n

’I used to be very self-conscious,’ she said. ’I’ve always felt much more comfortable in company situations, and that’s how I began.<\/p>\n

’I always wanted to be a good actress working with great people and doing work I wasn’t ashamed of.’<\/p>\n

In playing Carol, Blythe got to come out of her shell a bit, shooting scenes in which her character smokes marijuana and sings jazz.<\/p>\n

’I was never a big pot smoker\u2014it always made me anti-social,’ Blythe said.<\/p>\n

She added of jazz: ’That was actually my first love. I wanted to sing jazz more than I wanted to act.’<\/p>\n
