(STAN BEHAL, Toronto Sun)<\/p>\n<p>Article<\/p>\n<p>Change text size for the storyPrint this storyReport an error<\/p>\n<p>The red carpet is set for Rob Ford.<\/p>\n<p>Related:<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sheindressaustralia.com\/wedding-dresses-sydney\">wedding dresses sydney<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cleaners on Sunday were putting the final touches on City Hall\u2019s rotunda where the former Toronto mayor will lie in repose on Monday and Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>His funeral at St. James Cathedral will take place on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Ford\u2019s body will lie in repose in a casket, elevated on a stand on a red carpet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be an honour guard in each corner,\u201d said facilities and logistics coordinator Ellen Herridge. \u201cOn this side, we\u2019re going to have a couple of flags, a photo. On this (other) side, we\u2019re going to have any of the gifts that are brought in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The casket will have black draping with a Canadian flag on top. There are two risers for media to the left of the casket, Herridge said. There will also be a third book of condolences added to the area.<\/p>\n<p>She said they are are expecting thousands to attend the viewing over the two days. Because City Hall is closed for Easter Monday, \u201cpermit alley\u201d \u2014 the area in the western part of the building where people can obtain permits \u2014 will be open to mourners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are prepared (for thousands), especially because we have the extra space down permit alley, so if it is inclement weather, we can at least have them inside,\u201d Herridge said. \u201cWe won\u2019t be able to do that on Tuesday, because the building is open Tuesday and permit alley has to be up and running again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nelia Bettencourt, one of the cleaners, said Ford often would say hello to her if they crossed paths at City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ll make sure the red carpet is clean and everything is good,\u201d she said. \u201cI liked Ford. He was a good politician. What he said he would do, he did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A 33-year-old man who would only identify himself as Alan K. said he couldn\u2019t attend the visitation days, but wanted to sign the book of condolences.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted to write something to get it off my chest,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t doubt that he tried his best. I do think in the end, people in Toronto became more engaged about their civic democracy because of him, in a way. Before, people were very complacent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ford\u2019s brother, Doug, said the entire family plans to be at City Hall Monday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to greet the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t thank the people enough,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re just so grateful for the outpouring of support. It\u2019s heartfelt and sincere and we\u2019re so fortunate to have so many people supporting Rob and Renata and the kids and our family in tough times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The second visitation will take place Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the details:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The public can pay their respects to Rob Ford while his body lies in repose at City Hall from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Monday and 7:30 a.m &#8211; 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022Ford\u2019s funeral will take place at St. James Cathedral on King St. E. There will be a procession from City Hall to the cathedral, beginning at 10:30 a.m. A service is scheduled to begin at noon.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022The Ford family welcomes the public Wednesday in a \u201ccelebration of life\u201d event at the Toronto Congress Centre starting at 6:30 p.m. at 650 Dixon Rd.
