If your boyfriend has at least 5 of them, it’s a pretty good sign.

hot dad

When you dive into a new relationship, you don’t really think of your new boyfriend as a future father of your children. You’re way too busy with butterflies in your stomach and figuring out where to head out for your dates. Luckily, it’s not that complicated to figure out whether he’s going to be a good dad. You just need to pay attention to a few things in his behavior. Here are the 9 signs that he’s going to be an amazing dad.

If your boyfriend has at least 5 of them, it’s a pretty good sign.

1. He’s always calm
keep calm

If your guy is always calm and doesn’t loose his cool over little things, it’s already a huge achievement. It’s probably the most important trait that will hold a family together. Imagine he flips every time your (future) child makes a mess? Recipe for disaster. It would definitely kill the vibe at home if he can’t control his anger.

2. He enjoys to stay in

Chances are he’s going to be a good dad if he prefers to stay home over going out to a club. If he’s constantly in a FOMO mode, the only thing he’ll be good at is popping bottles, not babies. However, if he doesn’t mind chilling at home from time to time, it’s a good sign that he’s at least ready for a more serious commitment.

3. He takes care of you

A good sign of whether he will be a great dad would be how natural it is for him to take care of you. I’m not talking about big things, but rather little like tell you that you should wear something warm because it’s cold outside or help you carry a heavy bag or bring you meds when you’re feeling sick. You know, the little things. If it’s something that comes natural to him, then he’d also naturally care about his children.

4. He’s easy going
adapt to change

Life after you have children is very different from a life without children. It’s a huge lifestyle change. If he’s easy going and adapts to changes quickly, then it’s a great sign. Most probably, his first child will be the biggest and most important change in his life. If he’ll be able to adapt to it with ease and not go all melancholic about how amazing his life used to be, you’re both winning.

5. He can be goofy

Building a family is hard work. It’s very serious and long-term and involves routine. If he can’t laugh and goof around from time to time, he’s going to lose himself in the process. Even though you’re two adults doing adult things, it’s important to play around like kids sometimes and laugh. If he’s not a goofball, dump him right now. Just kidding. I would though.

6. He’s the big brother
big brother

If his siblings always call him to ask for help, money, advice, etc. it’s a great sign! It can be annoying, but it definitely proves that he’s a responsible adult. If the thought of helping someone out does not make him sick to his stomach, he’s a keeper. If, on the other side, he’s the one calling his parents for help – red flag!

7. He doesn’t get disgusted easily

If your guy is a neat freak and gags at the sight of dog poop, fatherhood will be rough on him. Children make a lot of mess. He’s going to need to deal with diapers, bad smells and weird baby food. If he’s the type to go “Eeewww, gross”, then you’ll be in the battlefield on your own, honey.

8. He likes cartoons

If he’s into Pixar and Disney, it’s awesome. I think it’s self-explanatory.

9. He gets along with kids

If he genuinely loves to spend time with kids and actually gets along with them, he’s a keeper. Not only it’s the hottest thing ever to look at, but it’s also one of the more significant signs he’ll be a good dad. Pay attention the next time you’re around kids.
