{"id":180,"date":"2012-01-12T19:26:00","date_gmt":"2012-01-12T18:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogg.improveme.se\/valentina\/2012\/01\/12\/paperwhites\/"},"modified":"2012-01-12T19:26:00","modified_gmt":"2012-01-12T18:26:00","slug":"paperwhites","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogg.improveme.se\/valentina\/2012\/01\/12\/paperwhites\/","title":{"rendered":"Paperwhites."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Paperwhites are beautiful flowers that are really easy to work with when doing DIY projects.<\/p>\n<p>There seem to be a craze about these little flowers at the moment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s.improveme.se\/data\/filearchive\/280197.0x0.jpg\" target=\"_BLANK\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/s.improveme.se\/data\/filearchive\/280197.510x0.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s.improveme.se\/data\/filearchive\/280198.0x0.jpg\" target=\"_BLANK\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/s.improveme.se\/data\/filearchive\/280198.510x0.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s.improveme.se\/data\/filearchive\/280200.0x0.jpg\" target=\"_BLANK\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/s.improveme.se\/data\/filearchive\/280200.510x0.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/s.improveme.se\/data\/filearchive\/280202.0x0.jpg\" target=\"_BLANK\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/s.improveme.se\/data\/filearchive\/280202.510x0.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can literally put the bulbs anywhere and decorate it how ever you want.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Here is one little idea.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18791\" title=\"MATERIALS\" src=\"http:\/\/camillestyles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/MATERIALS.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"25\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Paperwhite bulbs (they can be stored in a dark place for up to 6 weeks)<\/li>\n<li>Wide container with low sides<\/li>\n<li>Stones or beach glass<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18792\" title=\"INSTRUCTIONS\" src=\"http:\/\/camillestyles.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/INSTRUCTIONS1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"25\" \/><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Spread a 2&Prime; layer of stones in the bottom of your container.<\/li>\n<li>Place a layer of Paperwhite bulbs very closely next to each other, root end down.<\/li>\n<li>Add a layer of stones around the bulbs to stabilize them, leaving the tops of the bulbs exposed.<\/li>\n<li>Add water until it reaches the base of the bulbs, and set the container in a spot that does not get direct sunlight. Watch them carefully, and add water every time the level gets 1&Prime; below the surface.<\/li>\n<li>After a few days, the bulbs should be sprouting green. At this point, move them to a sunny spot and change your watering routine with my secret ingredient for preventing the Paperwhites from toppling over&hellip;<\/li>\n<li><em>Hard liquor.<\/em>&nbsp;You heard me! Using a tiny bit will stunt the growth of the Paperwhites just enough so that they don&rsquo;t get too tall and fall over. It does not, however, interfere with their big beautiful blooms. In order to determine the amount of liquor (vodka, tequila, whiskey, etc.) you&rsquo;ll need to use, check the bottle for the percentage of alcohol, then mix with water according to the following chart:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div id=\"abb\">\n<div id=\"abm\">\n<div id=\"abc\">\n<div id=\"articlebody\">\n<ul>\n<li>20% Alcohol = 3 Parts Water to 1 Part Alcohol<\/li>\n<li>25% Alcohol = 4 Parts Water to 1 Part Alcohol<\/li>\n<li>30% Alcohol = 5 Parts Water to 1 Part Alcohol<\/li>\n<li>35% Alcohol = 6 Parts Water to 1 Part Alcohol<\/li>\n<li>40% Alcohol = 7 Parts Water to 1 Part Alcohol<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I know it&rsquo;s crazy, but it works.
