I think it’d be cool if you all got together and do lunch and become friends and discuss these issues. And maybe Lisa and Val will be availabe to help also. I really believe they share your depth of passion to help and the fact that they are in NYC is a serendipitous and favorable coincidence.
I love dogs, and when I’m available I ’dog-sit’ for my sister and husband’s two English Springer Spaniels because they don’t like to go to the unpleasant kennel when they go on vacation, it’s a small thing, but I get to experience the sweetness of a loving pet and also realize how horrible it would be to be cruel to them, so when they announce ’uncle Aaron’ is here to watch you’ they are so happy, ’cause maybe I spoil them a little!
I believe that animal treatment laws and all that are not strict enough. In a perfect world, there would exist very strict laws and the enforcement and court litigation would run smoothly to harshly punish every violation. But I think this is the dilemma, that is not always possible with all the other crime and slow court action, so often the mistreatment goes unpunished even when it’s reported. You know when Mother Theresa was asked what one person could do with all the terrible problems in the world, she wisely answered, ’go home and love your family’ . I think if everyone is loving at home, it will spread out into the world and change it for the better.
