Landade i går i Bryssel för att besöka denna vackra stad samt ett fullspäckat program måndag och tisdag. Vi är ett gäng här för att besöka och lyssna på Anna Maria Corazza Bildt samt Europaparlamentet. Vi kommer att få inblick i Kommissionen och rådets roll i den Europeiska Unionen.
Anna Maria kommer att tala om sina hjärtfrågor, däribland kvinnors företagande. Det är en av punkterna som intresserar mig. På tisdag kommer vi att få sitta med och lyssna under LIBE-utskottet (medborgerliga fri och rättigheter samt rättsliga och inrikesfrågor) där Anna Maria är aktiv.
Mötet kommer bl.a. innehålla en genomgång av Eurojusts verksamhet (myndigheten för juridiskt samarbete som t.ex. arbetar med att bekämpa organiserad brottslighet). Just på tisdag behandlar LIBE Utredningen elektronisk övervakning av Amerikanska medborgare med Edward Snowdens vittnesmål.
Detta är också en fråga som jag brinner mycket starkt för. Den franska EU-parlamentarikern Eva Joly anser att den svenska åklagaren Marianne Ny i fyra år skött fallet Julian Assange mycket dåligt. Joly besökte Stockholm förra veckan för att presentera en lösning på Assange-fallet. Hon ville träffa justitieminister Beatrice Ask och åklagare Marianne Ny men båda avböjde att träffa henne. Tydligen är dom inte intresserade av att lösa fallet. Dåligt!
Grundaren av Wikileaks har tillbringat drygt ett och ett halvt år instäng som en fånge på Ecuadors ambassad i London. Detta är oacceptabelt. Assange fruktar för en utlämning till USA om han kommer till Sverige för förhör, något Eva Joly säger är välgrundade farhågor även om den svenska åklagarmyndigheten avvisat detta.
Vad jag undrar är om Beatrice Ask och åklagare Marianne Ny vill att Assange ska sitta där på Ecuadors ambassad i 12 år som fångarna på Guantanamo utan rättegång?
