Dr. Sydney Coleman från New York är en känd plastikkirurg som var med i helgen på plastikkirurgernas årsmöte i Linköping. Han har utvecklat en egen metod för fett-transplantation som han kallar lipostructure.
Vi fick lyssna på hans föredrag och se bilder på personer som blivit behandlade med Lipostructure, en metod som han själv tagit fram. Här ger man volym, förbättrar kroppsstrukturen, förbättra kirurgiska fel och medfödda skador med kroppseget fett. Man tar alltså fett från en del av kroppen och injicerar det sen dit där man vill forma eller förbättra.
Det mest intressanta var att se hur de hudpartier som behandlats med kroppseget fett fick en bättre struktur och blev jämnare. Även ärr försvann.
Här en bild på en man som hade fått cancer i tuggmuskeln. En stor del av hans ansikte hade skurits bort. Dr. Coleman formade tillbaka ansiktet i tre faser. Han har behandlat personer i snart 30 år och kollar man upp hans namn på nätet så ser man att han är omtyckt men även kritiserad. Har man behandlat personer i så många år så finns det givetvis missnöjda patienter som passar på att skriva ut sitt hat på nätet. Det är inte lätt att vara plastikkirurg idag.
Denna helg fick jag umgås med Sveriges plastikkirurger och måste säga att jag beundrar dom alla. Man märker att de älskar sitt yrke, är passionerade och blir själva så glada när patienterna är nöjda, det betyder mycket för dom.
De delar tips och råd med varandra, arbetar hela tiden på att förbättra sitt arbete och sammabetar för att deras patienter ska få det allra bästa. Det är SPEF, Svensk Förening för Estetisk Plastikkirurgi.
