Den antioxidativa effekten av NORDIC SUPERFOOD BLUE kommer från den höga mängden antocyaniner, ett antiinflammatoriskt pigment som finns i mörka bär som svarta vinbär, aronia och blåbär. Antioxidanter tros kunna förebygga ohälsa, skydda ögon och hjärna, samt reducera risken för hjärt- och kärlsjukdomar. Innehåller även lutein, som ger positiva effekter på många synproblem.

Förutom antioxidanter, innehåller NORDIC SUPERFOOD BLUE – också vitaminer och mineraler: A, B1, B2, B3, B6, B9, B12, C, D, E, magnesium, zink, kalium, fosfor, järn, samt rikligt med flavonoider.

Antioxidanter är ämnen som motverkar sjukdomsalstrande och oxiderande processer i kroppen, främst genom en livsstil med ohälsosam mat, vardagskemikalier och läkemedel. Torkat NORDIC SUPERFOOD BLUE anses ha blodsockerbalanserande effekt, där så kallade hypoglykemiska ämnen sänker blodsockerhalten.

Blåbär anses även hjälpa kroppen att bilda dopamin, som är väsentligt för välfungerande minne och koordination. En studie visar att 1¼ dl blåbär (motsvarande cirka 1 rågad msk blåbärspulver) per dag kan återställa minne och koordination.

Svarta vinbär innehåller dessutom mycket hög halt av C-vitamin.
Inom nordisk folkmedicinen har torkade blåbär också använts för behandling av diarréer, tarminfektioner, jäsningsprocesser i mag-tarmkanalen, inflammation i tandköttet och olika eksem. Förr såldes torkade blåbär på apotek i febernedsättande syfte.
